For more than a year, Art of Dance Director Pedi Amiri and his team have curated a vision to combine a music festival and nightlife together to create one vibrant extravaganza. His vision will come to life on November 1 as the 12,000-square-foot Orleans Arena transforms into a nightclub featuring the top DJs and musicians in the world.
“This is the first year for Fabulous Festival in the United States,” Amiri says. “Previously, it’s been going on (annually) in Europe for a few short years, but has made a huge dent in the festival market: hence the choice to bring it to the states.” Arimi explains that the Fabulous Festival has two stories: One entails the creation of Fabulous Amsterdam, and the other is of Fabulous USA.
“Both are two different monsters in a lot of ways, however, they both share the same overall style,” he said. “Upon the conceptualization of Fabulous USA, the mission was quite organic: create something truly virgin, unique and genuinely exciting while providing the most unforgettable entertainment experience for party goers from every walk of life.”
Ever the micro-managers, Amiri culled the artists for the festival.
“The artists I chose represent a powerful and dynamic identity in today’s global nightlife and electronic music scenes,” he said.
Among Amiri’s choices was international sensation Armin Van Buuren, voted #1 DJ of the year, and who will headline the Fabulous Festival. Joining him on the Blown Speakers Stage will be MSTRKRFT, and together the duo will deliver a performance worthy of their fame as the indie/rock n’ roll/dance prodigies.
Other artists include Deadmau5, the No. 1 most downloaded artist of 2008; Bad Boy Bill, a popular requested and respected DJ; the official Ed Banger party, the label behind the success of the group Justice; Robbie Rivera who is well-known in the dance music community; and Crystal Castles bringing their modern-day punk.
“The artists have all expressed great enthusiasm for Vegas’ recent embrace for the electronic music culture,” Arimi said. “For them, it’s a show of positive progression that something like Fabulous is now coming to Vegas. All of them have expressed great excited to play such a large production.”
